About Morse Code
Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes, or dits and dahs. Morse code is named after Samuel Morse, one of the inventors of the telegraph.
History
Developed in the 1830s and 1840s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail, Morse code was originally used for telegraphy and became the standard for international communication before the advent of modern digital communication methods.
Modern Usage
While no longer widely used for commercial communication, Morse code remains popular among amateur radio operators, in aviation, maritime communication, and as an assistive technology for people with disabilities.
